Biological Field Station Volunteers Wanted (Panama):
Two field volunteers to work in Panama from December 2015 to March 2016. This person will organize field trips to CREA’s field station at the Cocobolo Nature Reserve, for visiting US universities and schools during the winter. They will:
a. Organize and prepare the Cocobolo Biological Field Station, by working with local staff
b. Drive to the field station regularly using primitive roads and tracks
c. Prepare logistics and food for the groups prior and during their stay
d. Meet and travel alongside the groups, providing direction and guidance to them and aid them throughout their travel
e. Assist faculty and scientists to run a smooth trip in all ways necessary
f. May be asked to stay at the field station alone for up to one week.
The candidate must have:
a. Knowledge of driving a 4WD pick up, off road
b. Be fit and able to carry and pick up loads of approximately 50lb
c. Be an experienced outdoors person and be able to hike in hot humid conditions
d. Knowledge of Spanish
Preferred skills include:
a. Environmental science or education degree or similar
b. Knowledge of environmental issues, particularly those concerning tropical forests
The candidate(s) will be provided a return flight to Panama, a stipend for accommodation and food.
Campaign and Admin Support Volunteer Wanted (Marin, CA):
A part time volunteer that will support local (Marin) staff in fundraising, organizational development and outreach.
a. The person must be able to work at least two days a week and be present in Marin for at least one of those days.
b. Administrative skills: working with word, excel, power point are a must.
c. Organizational skills: has demonstrated ability to organize well and keep to task and meet deadlines.
d. Good written and oral English
e. Preferably speaks Spanish, but not required
f. Previous experience with working in environmental non profit preferred.
